Clay provides interesting sensorial and representational explorations. We will get to know clay to understand its ways of communicating with children and will explore strategies such as coils, balls and slabs to create more complex structures. We will play with clay by itself and will connect clay with materials.

Presenter Information
After teaching elementary and high school in Brazil, Elaine found her passion educating young children when studying Early Childhood Education at the Vancouver Community College. Elaine has taken many roles in the field of early learning in the last twenty-five years. This includes teaching young children and instructing adults in a variety of contexts, such as college courses and workshops about inquiry-based learning through the arts and sciences, clay, wire and drama. She currently teaches early childhood education at a local university. Elaine is an enthusiast of Reggio Emilia pedagogy. She received a Masters of Arts in Education from Simon Fraser University, where she is currently pursuing a PHD.
