The Reggio Emilia approach is an educational philosophy focused on early years and primary education. The approach was developed after World War II by a psychologist and pedagogista, Loris Malaguzzi, and parents in the villages around Reggio Emilia in Italy. The approach is based on the belief that children are innately capable of producing knowledge and culture when provided a rich environment & emergent learning opportunities. In the past few years Early Childhood Education field and Primary Education have become interested in the rich possibilities this approach provides to children and educators as a whole. Concepts such as emergent curriculum, inquiry-based learning & project-based learning have been more explored by educators both in ECE and elementary school levels.
If you are interested to know more about this approach, this workshop is a great start for you! In this 2 hour workshop we will be exploring the philosophy of the Reggio Emilia approach and some of its most important principles. The workshop will give you the opportunity to understand the Reggio approach better & can be used as an introduction to following workshops in near future.
