7 Saturdays from August 11 to September 29, 2018 (no class on Sept. 1).

This 35-hour course teaches participants how to open and run their own Family Child Care centre in their homes, for 2 to 7 children (LNR and Licensed). Through interactive sessions, participants learn about Child Growth & Development, Guiding & Caring, Health & Nutrition, Learning through Play, Safety & Emergency Procedures, Family Child Care Business Management, the child care subsidy process, and the LNR registration and licensing procedures. As the final assignment, participants will develop their own “Parent Package” (parent’s manual containing the centre’s policies, contracts, programming, daily schedule, etc.) which they must satisfactorily complete in order to receive a certificate of completion.

Note: If you live in Vancouver and plan to start a Family Child Care business in your home taking care of not more than 2 children besides your own, please call us for a free info session before you register into this course.

Target Audience
Suitable for people looking to start their own Family Child Care business. It is not meant for people who hold an ECE certificate to practice or need to renew an ECE Assistant certificate.

Prerequisite(s)
Participants must be at least 19 years old to register, attend all sessions and satisfactory complete the Parent Package in order to receive a certificate of completion, and have Grade 8 English written and oral skills (or equivalent) to participate during class.

Required Materials
Bring a 2-inch binder for your course materials and a bag lunch (½ hour lunch).

Presenter Information
Vesna is an experienced facilitator and Early Childhood Educator, currently working as a Vancouver CCRR Child Care Services Consultant at Westcoast Child Care Resource Centre. She brings a rich background in working with 0-5 year old children in both family child care and group care settings and as a facilitator for the 35-hour Introduction to Family Child Care Course and the 20-hour Responsible Adult in Child Care Settings Course.
