WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: This workshop will explore the essential roles of parents and service providers. Parent involvement and competence is a key component of success for children/youth with developmental exceptionalities. A parent’s relationship with the community professionals can make all the difference in terms of their level of empowerment. The workshop explores practical ways of moving practitioners towards more sensitive services that are empowering families. It includes ideas on making the connection, building the relationship and approaching families with more positivity.
