What is our goal as parents, caregivers and early educators? To develop healthy attachments and healthy brains! Healthy attachments are formed when adults attune to, and nurture with loving kindness, the physical, emotional and biological needs of their children. When little beings are securely attached they are confident and kind, they take risks in learning, transitions and separation are met with ease, and growth and development of their brain is typically rapid and healthy. Unfortunately, this path to secure attachment can become derailed when normal, healthy brain development is thwarted by complex trauma. In this workshop we will discuss what complex trauma is, how it impacts our brain, body and behaviour, and end with how to develop a trauma-informed approach to healing and calm.
