Description:
This workshop explains the neuroscience and neuropsychology of emotion, the differences between types of affect, and how several researched methods can be modelled and used for regulation. The discussion will center on how educators can model, create, and teach positive affect to improve a child’s overall well-being and learning.
Objectives:
• Explore the neuroscience and neuropsychology of the function of emotion.
• Discuss emotion regulation and health.
• Learn strategies and skills to create better emotion regulation.
• Recognize strategies on modelling, creating and teaching positive affect to children.

Presenter Information
Kate is an adjunct professor at Simon Fraser University. Her PhD. elucidates the neuroscience and neuropsychology of emotion and its impact on teaching. As the director of the Neuro Emotional Literacy Program (NELP), Kate’s current research focuses on improving emotional literacy in order to promote emotional and physical well-being in families.
